The Victoria Film Festival wants to expose youth and adults to a broad range of cultural, artistic and philosophical ideas and lifestyles through the presentation of film, video, new media and inter-activities while keeping it very relevant to the local community in Victoria. This year the Festival, which runs through February 12, shines a spotlight on Linda Blair for two days beginning with a screening of Director William Friedkin's 'The Exorcist', followed by a meet and greet with actress Linda Blair hosted by Bon Rouge the following day. At a Sips 'N' Cinema festival event, a trip to the film house for a screening of, 'House of Pleasure', is followed with a seating at the Veneto Tapa Lounge for a sampling of appetizers, and where well regarded bar master Simon ogden will lead a cocktail

Jazz pianist, Kyoko Oyobe, leads the late night jam session in New York City, Lower Eastside's newest bar, cafe and jazz venue, The Moldy Fig, Tuesday nights in July. The establishment presents it's jazz offering with an assortment of casual diversions like chess, shuffleboard, Scrabble, and backgammon, and a small plate menu from the kitchen. Poets will feel welcome in this Lower East Side element. In 1995, as CineVic Society of Independent Filmmakers, joined with Origins Theatre to form the Victoria Film Festival, their vision was to establish an annual independent film event in Victoria with a worldwide reputation yet be an intrinsic part of the local community which would serve as a milestone in the careers of young artists and filmmakers it sought to embrace. As this year's fesival unfolds, running through February 13, the festival's Sips 'n' Cinema sessions follow film screenings at the Legacy Art Gallery, featuring an evening of wine tasting, hors d’oeuvres and engaging discussion of the film just screened.
