Each week, StudioDirect published a weekly report detailing the actual number of customers who buy tickets and go to the movies. We call them...wait for it...customers and NOT movie goers!

in 2011 there were 1.3 BILLION individual 'Customer' transactions. Over 200 Million of us went to the movies...and 50% were frequent movie customers. Do you know who they are? By Name? By Email? By Preference?

New App Allows Film Fans to Share Movie Recommendations And Moviegoing Plans on Facebook and on Fandango


Fandango announced today at South by Southwest that it has launched a new Facebook timeline app that makes moviegoing more social than ever. The new app, called "Movies with Friends," allows fans to share their movie-based activities and recommendations on their Facebook timeline and News Feed, while seeing their Facebook friends' movie picks via an activity bar on Fandango's website.  The feature will also provide fans the choice to actively share information about their moviegoing plans and invite others to join them, facilitating moviegoing with friends in real time.

This fall, Sony Computer Entertainment America hired Harrison Ford to star in a Japanese TV commercial for Naughty Dog’s newest game, Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception. THR's sister publication AdWeek combed through the last 30 years of movie marketing and selected some favorite film taglines from that period. The cut-off of 1980 means that perhaps the greatest movie tagline ever -- "In space, no one can hear you scream," from Alien, 1979 was left off. But there's plenty here to chew on. Berate us in comments for everything missing.
