Sony Pictures tops this week's rankings as the #1 Studio based on total customers since Jan 1 with a total of 66,330,391 customers.

Total Movie Customers to date are over 428 Million.

The bad news is that was
DOWN 3,501,869 meaning
LOST Revenue of $27,769,821

Each week, StudioDirect published a weekly report detailing the actual number of customers who buy tickets and go to the movies. We call them...wait for it...customers and NOT movie goers!
in 2011 there were 1.3 BILLION individual 'Customer' transactions. Over 200 Million of us went to the movies...and 50% were frequent movie customers. Do you know who they are? By Name? By Email? By Preference?

Box office up sharply in 2012
More releases lead to 21 percent rise over last year
'The Vow'
Fox’s “Chronicle,” budgeted at about $12 million, had no trouble attracting the teenage male audience, cuming $58 million in the U.S.
Thanks in part to seven more wide releases in the first two months of the year, domestic box office is up a healthy 21% over 2011.
The $1.57 billion total is good news at a time when bizzers are concerned about changing audience behavior.
But the upturn still wasn't enough to outdo record-breaking results in early 2009 and 2010. Moreover, only one film this year has grossed more than $100 million.

Sony Pictures Entertainment is teaming up with Six Flags Entertainment Corporation to promote the release of The Smurfs feature film at all domestic parks and an in-store promotion at Hot Topic stores.
The promotion offers customers $20 off admission to Six Flags parks with the purchase of Smurf-branded t-shirts at select Hot Topic stores until April 25. Additionally, Six Flags will sponsor a sweepstakes.
