ABC Sitcom to Include Popular Cookie in Latest Product-Placement Pact

The producers at ABC's "Modern Family" have cooked up a product appearance for Kraft Foods' popular Oreo cookie, and the results are expected to show up in Wednesday's episode of the program.

As part of an ongoing marketing effort surrounding Oreo's 100th birthday, the staff of the ABC sitcom were asked to craft a scene for Kraft that involves young Luke Dunphy (played by actor Nolan Gould) eating an Oreo in an interesting way.

Saban Partners with Mattel
Saban Brands has partnered with Mattel for the Barbie Loves Paul Frank spring collection.

The line includes Barbie and Ken doll apparel and accessories, as well as a Barbie doll bedroom set with Paul Frank branding. The line debuted exclusively at Target stores yesterday.

"We are thrilled about this collaboration with Mattel. Barbie is such a classic and iconic brand that Paul Frank was the perfect fit for this great new partnership,” says Elie Dekel, president, Saban Brands.

Modern Family is extremely selective of product placements

Modern family, the popular comedy TV show, does not bite all its product placement opportunities. In fact, majority of the sitcom’s product placement opportunities are turned down by its producers.

In a recent interview with Advertising Age, Steven Levitan—Modern Family’s executive producer—said that the show turns down more than 90% of its product placement offers.

Levitan said that they constantly receive product placement opportunities. However, the show’s creative team is extremely selective.

Only a select few brands have managed to score product placements in the renowned television series, including Toyota, Audi, and Target.

Target to Host Twilight Event

Target Corporation will host a release event for Summit Entertainment's The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn–Part 1 on DVD and Blu-ray at nearly 500 stores across the country, extending store hours to accommodate the fans of the franchise.

Beginning Feb. 10 at 11 p.m., the retailer will screen an exclusive, world premiere scene from the fifth and final film, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn-Part 2. At midnight, the Breaking Dawn-Part 1 DVDs and Blu-ray go on sale, including the Target exclusive limited collector’s edition DVD that includes an authentic prop flower from the wedding scene encased in an acrylic keepsake.

Disney·Pixar's Cars 2 Rolls into Target
Target unveiled its collection of merchandise inspired by Disney·Pixar's Cars 2.

The Cars 2 collection at Target features exclusive products such as the Racing Rivals Buddy Pack, Change Ups Racing Track set, a Topper Deckington double-decker bus vehicle, Cars 2 Guess Who game and a bedding pattern. The Target collection also features LEGO Ultimate Build Francesco and the Fisher Price Wheelies Racing Rivalry Track, in addition to non-exclusive merchandise.
