Sherlock Holmes Product Placement

“Sherlock Holmes: Game of Shadows” ushered the New Year with a staggering $40-million performance in the box office.

And just when you thought period pieces were free from product placements, Holmes surprises you again. Not only were there product integrations, there were profitable product integrations.

One of the biggest product placements in the film came from the Savoy Hotel, which was built in 1889—making it historically authentic for the movie.

The film was shot in different locations, including London, Paris, and Switzerland. And yes, tourist spots are products too. Film locations were selected due to their prominence for Arthur Conan Doyle, the famed author of the Holmes books.

Study Finds TV Product Placement Travels Well, Creates Halo Effect

Years ago, John Barnard says, a senior Anheuser-Busch executive told him the brand was puzzled that, even though they were not yet in East Asian markets, Budweiser had a high level of brand awareness in the region.

A new study by NMG Product Placement, the UK agency Barnard chairs, indicates that product-placed brands may be receiving significant added value in foreign markets where programming is being exported.

In a Feb. 3 episode of "Bones," Brennan demonstrates her Toyota's adaptive cruise control to Booth. A few days later, on "Glee," Santana shows Puck a jewelry box, and tells him it contains a ring from Jared jewelers. A Nielsen study will later find these are two of the 10 most-remembered product placements on TV dramas and sitcoms in the month of February, joining a list that includes Ugg boots, Apple computers and Vicodin.

Product placement — the practice of inserting merchandise into entertainment for publicity value — is not only alive and well, but thanks to innovations such as DVR technology, which allows viewers to

I'm using the opportunity to blog on this plateform to share a thought with all the marketers out there!

Using a Celebrity to represent a Brand is Strategic! Nevertheless, doing so in planning a tradionnal campaign is very costly and not always as efficient as you would think...

I'd like to talk about the shooting of a commercial featuring Kim Kardashian and produced by Sketchers on Tuesday (04/12/11) in Santa Monica. I was not invited to be a part of this campaign neither was I in the position to direct Kim and give her directions of what to do in this set... but I whish I had, it would have been a blessing to be a part of the creative process...

As a Celebrity photographer otherwise called Paparazzi, I always use my right to take photos in the public space, so check

What's my Return On Investment? a reasonable question for a company to ask when investing in any form of advertising. When it comes product placement (as well as other forms of traditional advertising), measuring ROI is a difficult task. For most brands, product sales that can be directly linked to a specific advertising campaign defines their ROI. Whether you are running a print campaign in national publications, airing :30sec commercials on network television or integrating your product into an episode of Entourage, tracking incremental consumer activity is never a straight forward process.

There have been many successful stories over the years the confirm direct sales from a product being placed in a movie or television show. The most famous
