Well if you have bother to read my blogs , you will know I am always at arms with Wal-Mart and their Marketing department. During the last 8 years they have moved from that model to building an empire and steering the ship.
Finally the shift is back to what made them great: Marketing under Merchandising. I am a marketer who started on the sales side, and i respect the point of the sale. The store needs to love what Marketing is delivering. Executable plans that drive sales. Sounds simple but the fact remains most fluffy marketing plans don't sell product or excite the people who make it happen.
My hats off to Wal-Mart for going back to a model that a great marketer (I cut my eye teeth with) Bob Connolly was the head for the best to market model 8 years ago.
